The Wheatland Music Organization is hosting the third annual JUNE MUSIC AND DANCE WEEK which is held at the beautiful Wheatland Music Organization festival site in Remus, Michigan. Dates are June 18-24, 2017. Tuition is $500 for the week and INCLUDES 3 meals a day, evening snacks, camping (campers with generators are welcome) shower facilities, all instruction, activities, jams, opportunities for students to perform and evening entertainment.
The Cajun music instructors this year are:
David Greely: Cajun singing
Jonno Frishberg: Advanced Cajun Fiddle
Bo Ledet: Intermediate Cajun Fiddle
Corey Ledet: Cajun and Zydeco Accordion
Kevin Aucoin: Cajun percussion
Mark Stoltz: Cajun and Zydeco dance, plus hosting Cajun Culture Hour including cooking
Other music genres at this year’s Music and Dance Week is Celtic, Bluegrass, Old Time, Ukulele, Flatfooting/Clogging, and Dobro Pedal Steel instructors. One participant said, “The instructors were fabulous, patient, approachable and encouraging.”
Daily classes are held for fiddle, guitar, mandolin, dobro/pedal steel, banjo, accordion, ukulele, stand-up bass, singing, song writing, dancing and early morning yoga. There are also plenty of opportunities for participants to show off their own talent. During the evening there was a student talent show, Honky Tonk Night where students sang their favorite Honky Tonk song backed up by a fabulous Honky Tonk Band made up from our versatile, talented instructors, square dancing, Cajun dances, and plenty of organized and impromptu Jams.
